External blinds – which option should you choose?
External blinds are most commonly associated with window coverings. However, not all systems serve the same purpose. Façade blinds are fitted to the glazed sections of buildings, whereas Patio blinds are primarily used to provide side cover for patios, balconies, pergolas and gazebos.
In adjustable systems, the position of the slats can be changed. This means the windows do not have to be kept closed at all times. When you need privacy or protection from the sun, you close the blinds. When you want more light and a freer flow of air, you open the slats.

Wood or aluminium external blinds?

External wooden blinds
Wood blends in well with the garden, a gazebo and a traditional pergola. The slats can be colour-coordinated to match the decking or the façade. However, wooden external blinds require appropriate protection and regular maintenance.

How do you choose external blinds for your terrace?
Before making a purchase, bear in mind a few things: the dimensions of the opening, the type of construction, the method of fixing, the direction of sunlight and the material of the slats. It is also important whether the structure is primarily intended to provide shade from the sun or to restrict the view from the neighbours’ side.
External blinds do not provide completely watertight protection against rain and wind. If you need more comprehensive protection for your terrace, it is worth considering other types of side enclosures, such as those made of glass or polycarbonate.
