Balcony and terrace partitions are prefabricated framed elements used as balcony partitions, terrace partitions and side covers for terraces or balconies. They work well for both new builds and retrofitting an existing space when you need cover without building a permanent wall.
Each partition comes to you as prefabricated frame with filling, permanently connected and pprepared for installation in the planned space.
What are balcony and terrace partitions in a frame
Balcony and terrace partitions are complete body panels, in which the frame is the load-bearing structure and the infill is responsible for the shielding function.
You do not complete profiles, boards or plates separately.
You don't do carpentry work on site.
The frame tidies up the entire development, provides rigidity and allows the partition to be fitted quickly:
-
on the balcony,
-
on the terrace,
-
in the pergola,
-
in the gazebo.
It is the solution of choice where predictable effect, short installation time and repeatability.
How a framed balcony and terrace partition works - comfortable outdoor development
The partition acts as stand-alone installation panel.
The frame takes the load and stabilises the whole, while the filling protects against:
-
wind,
-
the sun,
-
outside gaze,
-
precipitation.
With this, you assemble one finished component, co:
-
simplifies installation,
-
facilitates valuation,
-
gives you more control over the end result.
Balcony partitions with OpenUp System terrace blinds
In the louvre variant balcony and terrace partitions are equipped with OpenUp System handles.
Within a single frame you can adjust:
-
ventilation,
-
amount of light,
-
visibility and level of privacy.
As opposed to a fixed polycarbonate partition, OpenUp System terrace blinds allow you to adjust the shading to current conditions - weather, time of day or the way the balcony or terrace is used.
The frame maintains the geometry of the planks and ensures that the mechanism operates stably across the baffle.
You can choose from aluminium frame with aluminium fins or frame wooden BSH with movable boards.
Terrace and balcony dividers in polycarbonate - fixed cover in frame
Alternatives are partitions in a frame with polycarbonate filling, used as permanent side screens.
The frame forms the load-bearing structure and the polycarbonate provides a uniform protective surface.
The polycarbonate used has 10 mm thick, which guarantees the necessary rigidity in the outer shell.
Polycarbonate colours available:
-
transparent - maximum light and visibility,
-
milky (opal) - diffused light and greater privacy,
-
graphite - reduced heating and visibility.
Balcony or terrace partition - when to choose an OpenUp System louvre panel
The OpenUp System terrace blind frame is worth choosing if:
-
you want regulate ventilation and light,
-
you care about variable visibility, and not a fixed wall,
-
the development is to be used seasonally,
-
you are realising a terrace, pergola or balcony with variable sunlight.
When to choose a partition in a polycarbonate frame
A polycarbonate frame is worth choosing if:
-
you need permanent protection from wind and precipitation,
-
looking for side protection for balcony or terrace,
-
The development is intended to act as a windbreak,
-
you do not need to adjust your visibility.
Purchase of partition or installation service - difference in VAT

Frequently asked questions
What types of frames are available?
aluminium frame partition + aluminium laths, partition in wooden frame + wooden planks, aluminium frame partition + polycarbonate.
What is the difference between moving boards in a kit and moving boards or polycarbonate in a frame?
The difference is in the degree of „readiness” of the solution and the method of installation. Movable panels - kit A set of movable planks is a solution designed for self-assembly. You receive system components which you assemble directly to your own structure (e.g. posts, beams, frames made by yourself). This variant: requires a prepared construction, gives greater design freedom, works well for contractors who want to build frames themselves or integrate the system into existing buildings. Movable planks or polycarbonate in a frame Framed partitions are pre-fabricated development panels in which the frame and infill are a single, pre-fabricated unit. This variant: does not require the frame to be built on site, reduces assembly time, gives a predictable end result, reduces the risk of installation and measurement errors. In the case of movable boards, the frame ensures correct geometry and stable operation of the OpenUp System mechanism. In the case of polycarbonate, the frame acts as a carrier for the fixed cover. Summary of the difference If you want to build the enclosure yourself from scratch - you choose a kit. If you want a ready-made, quick and tidy solution - you choose a frame partition. If you are unsure which option will be better for you, it is worth consulting your choice before ordering or considering implementation as a service.
Are the balcony and terrace partitions ready for installation?
Yes. Each partition is a complete frame with infill, prepared at the factory for assembly.
Is the frame a structural element?
Yes. The frame is the base of the partition and is responsible for its stability and the correct operation of the infill.
Are the blinds in the partitions movable?
Yes. Movable OpenUp System planks are used to adjust ventilation and visibility.
Does polycarbonate transmit light?
Yes. Depending on the colour, you can get full illumination or diffused light.
What is the thickness of the polycarbonate?
The polycarbonate is 10 mm thick.
Are partitions suitable for a balcony in a block of flats?
Yes. Framed balcony partitions are often used in multi-family developments as privacy-enhancing side screens.
How do I measure the dimensions of the frame I need?
Always measure three times and take the narrowest dimension. Measure: at the floor, at middle height, against the ceiling or top beam. Structures very often have deviations. Adopting the narrowest dimension avoids the situation where the finished frame does not fit into the opening.
Why can't I give one dimension „by eye”?
Prefabricated frames for balcony and terrace partitions are rigid elements. Unlike boards assembled individually, the frame does not allow for corrections on site. Even a difference of a few millimetres between bottom and top can result in the frame: will not enter the opening, it wedges, cannot be leveled properly. Therefore, measuring accurately and taking the narrowest dimension is essential.
