Sliding glazing system - sliding glass enclosure

Sliding glazing system for terrace side development

Framework or frameless sliding glass system (also referred to as frameless patio glazing or sliding glass walls) allows the sides of a terrace to be enclosed without restricting visibility. It is a solution for people who want shelter from wind, precipitation and noise, while maintaining full contact with their surroundings.

The sliding glazing system is recommended for terraces not exposed to intense sunlight, where protection rather than light control is important.

Application of the sliding glass system

  • shielding the terrace from wind, rain and snow,
  • maintaining full visibility of the garden or surrounding area,
  • the possibility of opening up the space completely by sliding the wings,
  • protection of the terrace during periods of transition.

Technical details of the sliding glass panel system

The system consists of single sliding sashes with the following parameters:

  • maximum sash width: 200 cm,
  • maximum sash height: 270 cm,
  • glass type: toughened ESG glass,
  • thickness of glass: 10 mm.

Applied 10 mm toughened ESG glass is characterised by:

  • high mechanical resistance,
  • increased resistance to temperature changes,
  • safe means of disintegration in the event of damage (small, blurred fragments).

The parameters of the glass ensure the stability of the system and the safety of use in outdoor conditions.

Sliding frameless system or sliding frame system?

Frameless sliding system

No vertical profiles
The glass sashes slide framelessly, providing maximum transparency and an unobstructed view of the garden. This is the solution for those who place a premium on open space and the „full glass” effect.

Light, minimalist form
The frameless system visually almost disappears. It is best suited to modern canopies and pergolas, where simplicity and aesthetics without divisions are important.

Protection against wind and precipitation
The cladding effectively shields the terrace from rain and wind, improving comfort, but does not have an insulating or structural function.

Smooth and quiet sash movement
Specially designed bottom guides allow the glass to slide comfortably and lightly.

Sliding frame system

(aluminium or wooden frames)

Frame increases rigidity and stability
Both aluminium and timber frames stiffen the structure, improve wind resistance and better protect the terrace space from adverse weather conditions.

Choice of frame material - aluminium or wood

  • aluminium - modern design, high resistance to external conditions, possibility of painting the profiles in any RAL colour;
  • wood - natural character, perfect match with pergolas and timber canopies, visual coherence with façade and garden.

Better space closure than in a frameless system
The frames reduce side wind gusts and improve usable air tightness, which is important for larger glazing and more exposed terraces.

Integrated sliding sashes
One sash triggers the next, allowing the entire development to be opened quickly and conveniently.

Important distinctions between sliding systems

In addition to the sliding glass panel system, we also offer other solutions for the side development of the terrace. Depending on your needs, you can choose sliding terrace cladding made of OpenUp System movable blinds, available in wood or aluminium, which allows the light and degree of shielding to be adjusted, and sliding polycarbonate terrace cladding, providing protection from wind and precipitation in a more budget-friendly form.

How do sliding glass walls work?

Panels move on special trolleys on aluminium profiles three or five channels quietly and smoothly. A maximum of 10 panels can be made into a wall. When the panels are fully closed, their connection is almost invisible. Such a system is suitable for both smaller domestic buildings and larger terraces or conservatories. The glass panels are easy to move with one hand, and the lightweight construction allows you to conveniently adjust the degree of opening of the space depending on the weather and the needs of the householders.

For the convenience of users, we install on glass panels opening handles them. Such frameless sliding panels will allow you to enjoy lounging on the covered path from early spring, until late autumn.

Can the sliding glazing system be combined with movable board buildings?

Yes, it is possible to combine a sliding glazing system with a movable board building. In such realisations, we recommend the use of aluminium slats, which better withstand varying humidity and temperature conditions in combination with glass. The solution is selected individually at the quotation stage.

Is a sliding glass enclosure the same as a conservatory?

No. A sliding glass enclosure is not a conservatory. It does not provide that level of thermal insulation and is not designed for year-round use in winter conditions. If we are already comparing, it is closer to the so-called summer garden, which is also in our offer. A conservatory is a completely different construction and a different standard of insulation.

Do you install sliding glass enclosures on balconies?

We do not install sliding glazing systems on balconies. This type of enclosure is intended for terraces, pergolas and covered spaces where the appropriate technical conditions can be provided.

Is fixed glass enclosure also on offer?

Yes. In addition to sliding systems, we also offer fixed glass enclosures, which work well where there is no need to open the walls and the priority is to cover the space permanently.

Are there cheaper alternatives to the sliding glass enclosure?

If you want a smooth surface and access to light, a sliding polycarbonate terrace enclosure is a good alternative.
If it is important to be able to regulate light, ventilation and the degree of protection, we recommend the OpenUp System sliding sliding patio enclosure, available in wood or aluminium.
