Construction of a pergola in Opypach<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

In search of shadow<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The decision to enclose the two hitherto open sides of the pergola was made sometime towards the end of the last hot summer. Clients in Opypach found that the openwork development on the side of the fence gave them a sense of privacy - separating them from the road and their neighbours' properties - but did not provide enough protection from the sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The south-west exposure of the open walls meant that the sun operated there all day and it was hot under the pergola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To remedy this, they decided to partially enclose the walls in a system of\u00a0Bevel - fixing the board under the bevel<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In autumn, when the heat eased, they further congratulated themselves on this decision. They now had an intimate spot in the garden sheltered from the rain and wind. Perfect for autumn barbecues or social gatherings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subtle colours<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The pergola structure and the openwork wall were painted in a dark grey. In order to give the structure a lighter appearance, we and our clients opted for a lighter colour of glazing on the sloping board cladding. This type of glaze is not opaque and nicely exposes the grain of the boards and emphasises the natural character of the material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Functionality of the Skossy system<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On the longer wall of the pergola, we installed planks that were more than 200 cm long. So as not to have to cut them and spoil the visual effect, we used a Bevels - centre mount<\/a>.<\/strong> This ensures that the boards will not bend or warp over the years. In addition, this solution reduces the cost of the development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this implementation, we installed 17 boards on the long wall, 250 cm long, 1.8 cm thick, 12 cm wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
